Kota Kinabalu, aka KK Island is a nice little getaway in Asia – I have to say it is quite an experience, especially in this Guyana Eco Resort as it is the closest you can get in to the nature while still being able to be in the civilisation. Having said Eco, the resort has this Marine Ecology Centre where you can learn and help breed the extinct giant clams, get to feel and touch all sorts of coral reefs, sea urchins, star fish…etc. And what’s cool is there is this resident boar (an old one) that keeps you company (and not disturb you at all) at the beach.
I had a stay for 5 days there and it was fun. It isn’t a place where you got no choice but lazing around, you can actually get active and try kayaking (you neeeed to get into the mangrove with the guide as it felt amazing! I thought I was Bear Grylls for a few minutes), diving, jungle trekking to their neighbouring Bunga Raya Resort, which is managed by the same group (and you can use their facilities too!)
This is the beautiful pier where we arrived at the resort.
Just walking along to go to our little bungalow!
And this is inside the Ocean Villa, with a nice open balcony.
Room service are all delivered by a boat to the balcony, I’d recommend that for a little early romantic breakfast.
And of course, first things first, walk down to the beautiful water from the balcony. It felt amazing with all sorts of beautiful fish swimming alongside while you are floating around.
Can’t leave this travel must-have camera case from Candies as it is super cute and water-proof.
And of course, this is a perfect spot for a little bag party with my GLUSH/ VISI VERSA Collection and my favourite silver bikini from TRIANGL!
For most of the days there, we ate by at the pool side restaurant but refused to sit inside as this is a view that I’d like to be as close as possible to.
My favourite minimalist watch in gold by Lavaro – I was fooling around with the bead so it’s not the right time for the sun still shining!

It was one of the best vacation of 2013, and can’t wait to explore more this year! If I go back, I’d love to hike the infamous Kota Kinabalu Mountain.
